Welcome to Kemba

Updated 10/1/2021

We are pleased to announce that New Horizons Credit Union will merge with Kemba Credit Union.  This merger will allow New Horizons members access to the additional benefits and services that Kemba members presently enjoy.

Your Board of Directors are very excited about this merger. We are pleased with the many benefits that joining these two institutions will provide. These benefits include access to Kemba products and services and the convenience of 10 additional locations across Greater Cincinnati. Both New Horizons Credit Union and Kemba Credit Union have a wonderful tradition of serving our members’ needs and we share a similar operating style and a strong “members-first” Credit Union philosophy.

The effective date of the merger will be November 1, 2021. All Kemba products, services and office locations will be available to the New Horizons membership effective November 1, 2021. New Horizons CU staff will transition over to Kemba staff, and all New Horizons branch offices will be rebranded as Kemba Credit Union.

In the upcoming weeks, Kemba will be sending you information regarding the new services and locations available to you along with details on your current accounts. Please review all the information very carefully. Please call 513.562.6600 for details and updated information regarding the merger.

Thank you for your support. It has been an honor serving you. We are confident that Kemba will work diligently to bring you the latest products and services available and will continue to strive to enrich the financial lives of our members every day.

Sincerely,

Polina Ruuge

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS REGARDING THE MERGER

Will the members keep their same account numbers?

  1. Majority of members will be able to keep their same account numbers.  If there are duplicate account numbers between credit unions, we will notify the affected members and provide them with their new account number.

Will the members’ automated payments, direct deposits and checks continue to occur and clear without interruption after the system conversion?

  1. Yes.  New Horizons Credit Union’s Routing and Transit number will continue to be valid and processed by the Federal Reserve after the merger.  New Horizons members can continue to use existing checks even after the system merger. Automated payments and direct deposits will also continue to be processed after the system merger without the member having to notify vendors, employer, etc. As New Horizon members reorder checks through the credit union, the checks will automatically have the new Kemba R&T number on them.

Will NHCU member’s online/mobile banking username and password be the same?

  1. No. On November 1st New Horizons members will need to create a new online banking ID and Password on the Kemba website or the mobile app.  At that time, NHCU members can enroll in electronic statement and set E-Alert preferences. A current email address will need to be on file for the member to set up online banking.

Will NHCU members have access to archived electronic statements?

  1. Yes. Within online/mobile banking NHCU members will have access to the prior 3 years of NHCU statements.

Will NHCU member’s current Online Bill Payment payees transfer over to Kemba?

  1. Unfortunately, No.  New Horizon Credit Union members will need to set up their payees within Kemba’s Online/Mobile banking. Please note, if you have recurring payments set within New Horizons online bill payment, those will discontinue on October 29, 2021.

Will anything change with NHCU member’s loans?

  1. All loans (except credit cards) currently in repayment will continue as they are.  Credit Card account holders will receive a new credit card by November 1 and will have a new due date.  They can activate their card when they receive it but cannot begin using it until November 1.  Additional information will be sent to those members impacted.

Will any branches be closed and what will branch hours be?

  1. Kemba branch hours vary by location. New Horizons branch hours will remain the same at this time.

Will rates change on New Horizon Member’s accounts?

  1. Certificate rates will remain the same until their contracted maturity because those rates are locked in at the time they were opened.  However, all other savings/share rates will convert to Kemba’s rate schedule starting on November 1st.

When will Kemba’s fee schedule go into effect for New Horizons Credit Union members?

  1.  Starting November 1st, 2021, Kemba’s current fee schedule will go into effect for all New Horizon’s members.

How will Kemba address multiple accounts for members that go over the standard $250,000.00 insurance coverage?

  1. After the effective date of the merger on November 1, there is a 6-month grace period before members need to make account changes to ensure full insurance coverage. Members affected may contact the credit union, after November 1, 2021, and be assisted with evaluating the insurance coverage options available to them.
